Tano Batak, Northern Sumatra, Indonesia. This coffee is the first Indonesia coffee we’ve sourced ourselves in almost half a decade. Coffee has been under cultivation in the Lake Toba region of Sumatra for many years, as the seedlings were quickly transported from neighboring Java across the East Indies by the Dutch. Coffees from this part of the world tend to excel with heavy body, deep tobacco leaf notes and a long finish. Very different from the “typical” coffee taste profile you might encounter at Brown; but a beauty of a coffee for cooler weather. Tano Batak is also a primary component in our Cottonwood Espresso.
