This coffee comes from the Kawa Kanzuru Cooperative located outside of the city of Butembo in North Kivu. Kawa Kanzuru Cooperative is part of a larger network of 4 cooperatives made up of around 4,800 farmer members total: Kawa Kabuya, Kawa Kanzururu, Kawa Mabera, and Kawa Kenja. Kawa Kanzuru and the other affiliated cooperatives are a product of relationships between local farmers and international NGO’s who’s main goal is to improve farmer livelihood. This year, Kawa Kanzuru took ninth place in the AFCA Taste of Harvest competition. Coffees contributing to this lot are harvested at altitudes between 1500-1800 masl.
