This batch of espresso beans is grown by Damian Espinoza.
Damian is a second generation coffee farmer and has been producing coffee since 2002, at his Finca La Palma he grows Bourbon and Caturra. He was inspired to grow specialty coffee after one of his neighbors won a coffee competition, this has borne fruit and in 2018 Damian came in 2nd place in the Cup Of Excellence.
Peru is a country that has been on our radar since 2012 when Robert first started CCS. There is access to lots of fantastic coffee lots, but it has not previously been possible to find micro-lots with traceability down to some farms.
Origin Coffee Lab is located in Cajamarca, established by Alex Julca and José Rivera, aka Pepe, 3 years ago. Alex grew up on a coffee farm and has extensive experience as a cupper when he worked with quality control for one of the largest cooperatives in the region. Pepe is the son of a coffee exporter and has spent most of his childhood on a dry mill. He also has expertise in roasting as he has worked for several well-established coffee distilleries in the states.
