In the highlands of natural forest in Ethiopia is the washing station Nano Challa 2. It was established in 2019 to extend the capacity of its sister washing station, the famous Nano Challa, established in 2004. There are now over 600 members split between the two sites, with farms ranging from an elevation of 1850 and 2100 metres. In 2010, the Nano Challa coop transitioned into washed processing coffees, in connection with the NGO Technoserve. Just like our Biftu Gudina, this partnership allowed for the farmers to expand and reach a market they previously wouldn’t have been able to showcase their delicious heirloom crops to.
